Artist+Photographer
Born 1969, Kaunas, Lithuania.
His varied spectrum of personal work and commercial assignments consist of pinhole (camera obscura), landscape, conceptual and architectural imagery. He masterfully explores seams between photography and fine art, dark and light, literal and abstract, known and unknown, conscious and subconscious.
Darius works spontaneously, using his intuition to create something visually stimulating and exciting; something, perhaps, that has never been captured before in such a way. And yet, each piece maintains its own unique life and visual cohesiveness. He often uses the camera obscura (pinhole camera), and he is interested in basic, elementary occupation with the medium itself, researching and exploiting all the opportunities it offers. The actual photographic subject or motive remains in the realm of intimation and open to opposing interpretations.
His photographs are more than a mere record of place, location or object. Each piece provides ample reflection of the artists’ unique perspective, his focus on aesthetics, and his profound technical proficiency.
